December 17, 2009

Welcome to our December/January issue of
" Slow Travel for Women " Newsletter

Happy Holidays to all! We are all frantically getting ready for the holidays, thinking of gifts to buy, food to prepare, and of course “Travel Destinations”. Whether it is a cruise, a skiing weekend, or an exotic getaway, we wish you all a relaxing and well-deserved break from the routine.

We are working on some new holiday destinations for 2010 that we are sure you will love. For example: A new Ireland & Scotland Gourmet Tour, a Sicily & Malta Tour, a weekend getaway in Baden Baden’s famous Spas, a Niagara Falls & Toronto Tour, and a Washington D.C. visit including tour of the White House. Sound like fun? Hope you can join us in 2010 as we are “cooking up” some fantastic visits, including hands-on cooking demonstrations, wine-tasting, relaxing spa treatments, shopping sprees, and so much more.

We remind you that we have just introduced a new Formula – with a VERY interesting price for a kind of do-it-yourself tour of Italy. It is called Italy Within Reach Tour. Weekly departures are available all 2010.

Remember to take at look at our Custom Tours page. We can help you find the best solution for your next trip and do all the planning for you from hotels to sightseeing to transportation.

If you haven’t found the right gift yet, take a look at our aStore run in collaboration with Amazon.com. You can find interesting books, maps and travel accessories, and those wonderful lightweight suitcases that make the trip so much easier.

This month we have included a fun Holiday recipe to our Cookbook list. It is called Christmas Wreaths.

Muriel & Ann invite you to check our website for tour updates and new destinations for 2010. We will be posting shortly our new “ 2010 Survey” so don’t forget to tell us where you would like to travel next year.

Our subscribers continue to grow and we would like to thank all of our faithful readers for spreading the word. Feel free to forward the newsletter to your friends and encourage them to sign up for our free monthly Slow Travel for Women Newsletter.

Slow Cooking Recipe No. 13

CHRISTMAS WREATH

"These Christmas wreaths are made using cornflakes and cinnamon candies. They're fun to make and eat. If the mixture is cooling too quickly, set the pan in a skillet with one inch of very hot water to keep the dough manageable."

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
30 large marshmallows
1 1/2 teaspoons green food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups cornflakes
2 tablespoons cinnamon red hot candies or red cherries

Preparation:
Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows, and cook until melted, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in the food coloring, vanilla, and cornflakes.

Quickly drop heaping tablespoonfuls of the mixture onto waxed paper, and form into a wreath shape with lightly greased fingers. Immediately decorate with red hot candies or red cherries. Allow to cool to room temperature before removing from waxed paper, and store in an airtight container.
