Welcome to our February/March issue of " Slow Travel for Women " Newsletter

The 2010 Winter Olympics will be a major international multi-sport event held from February 12-28, 2010 in Vancouver, British Colombia. This will be the third Olympics hosted by Canada and the first by the province of British Colombia. We are planning a Slow Travel tour to the city of Vancouver and Vancouver Island for September 2010. Vancouver will not disappoint you. It’s cultural diversity is reflected in the range of restaurants, bars, nightclubs available. Vancouver ranks first in world-wide livable city ratings according to the 2010 Economist’s survey. Vancouver has plenty to satisfy your cravings.
We at Slow Travel for Women wish you all the best for the year 2010 bringing you much health, joy and particularly new Slow Travel experiences.
The unique feature which distinguishes the Slow Travel Groups is their desire to understand and appreciate the places they visit. As you may well understand, the interests of the groups vary greatly; however, according to our surveys and tours, we seem to cater to the 50+ group. Of course, we have many exceptions, many younger clients join our group as well. We would also like to mention that participants with special needs are more than welcome as we make all the necessary arrangements to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable trip.
Our Slow Travel Tours will enable you to experience a deeper type of travel; an easier, simpler and slower way of absorbing the beauties and culture of the various countries. You will see and appreciate what is closer to you without having to dash around to see the “musts”.

Slow Cooking Recipe No. 14

PAPPA AL POMODORO
A delicious, simple and healthy meal made with bread and tomatoes. It is a typical Tuscan dish but can be easily adapted to your taste.
Ingredients:
1 medium onion
2 garlic cloves
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive
1 32 ounce can of organic tomatoes
1/2 loaf day-old rustic Italian bread
3 1/2 cups chicken broth
Preparation:
Finely chop onion and mince garlic. In a 4-quart heavy pot heat oil over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking and sauté onion and garlic, stirring, until softened. Drain tomatoes, reserving juice, and chop. Stir tomatoes and reserved juice into onion mixture and simmer, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes.
While tomato mixture is simmering, discard crust from bread and cut enough bread into 1-inch cubes to measure 2 cups. Add bread and broth to tomato mixture and simmer, stirring occasionally, until bread has absorbed liquid and soup is thick, about 40 minutes. Season soup with salt and pepper. Add a spoon of extra virign olive oil to the dish before serving.
