Welcome to our October/November issue of " Slow Travel for Women " Newsletter

Happy Halloween to all! Its time for pumpkins and apples, baked turkeys and sweet potatoes and all those nice homemade foods that bring back sweet memories of the past.
We are all back to our “Fall Routines” and schedules, kids are off in school and we are ready to get away on our next vacation, be it a quick weekend break, a pre-Christmas shopping spree, or a plan for this spring in Europe for example. We have some of our “repeated tours” as well as some special new tours waiting for you.
We are also happy to introduce you to a new Formula – with a VERY interesting price for a kind of do-it-yourself tour of Italy. This
Italy Within Reach Tour

Spa Sister Microfiber Hair Turban
which dries your hair as it absorbs moisture quickly – a great price of $10.50.
As always, we have included a recipe to our Cookbook list sent by one of our readers. This time a lighter dish (no need to fry the eggplant first) which is easy to make and a delicious
Moussaka dish.

BREAKING NEWS: VENICE, FLORENCE & ROME TOUR
Enjoy a romantic ride in a Venetian gondola
Lose yourself in Florence’s famous Uffizzi
Pamper yourself with Rome’s Dolce Vita
We have added a completely different type of tour for you this month.
We proudly present our 7-night trip to Venice, Florence and Rome. The tour starts in Venice and ends in Rome. You will spend 2 nights in Venice and Florence and 3 nights in Rome, Italy’s most fascinating cities. However, there is a difference from our other tours. Upon arrival in each city you will be completely on your own to do exactly what you like. You can join an optional tour of your choice depending on your own individual interests easily booked locally through your hotel. On the other hand, you may wish to browse around and do a little shopping. Perhaps you may want to sip coffee or an aperitif in a local piazza and drink-in your surroundings and see the exhibits in a few museums. You will be transported by train (1st class Eurostar) from Venice to Florence and lastly to Rome. We take care of the train and your 4* hotels in each city.
This tour was organized by popular demand BOTH for those of you who are already familiar with these cities and for those of you who are “first time” visitors and would appreciate more freedom with perhaps some regularly scheduled tours of each city.
Many requests came from expatriates living in Europe and in Italy itself. Many women are alone and prefer to join a group of travelers. However, this tour will be open to husbands and significant others as well.
This 2010 tour will run on a weekly basis – with Sunday arrivals (subject to availability) and Low or High Season Prices. Starting at $949.00* low season or $1160.00* High Season.
This is a great opportunity to visit Italy and is truly a great value for the dollar. NOW is the time to plan your next trip to Italy! We look forward to having you on board.
• price based on rate of exchange of euro/dollar at 1.45 subject to fluctuation in accordance with rates valid when final payment is made.

Slow Cooking Recipe No. 12

MOUSSAKA
Submitted by Yvonne Arseneau, Canada
Ingredients for 4 people:
500 gr mince beef
2 large potatoes
2 eggplants
2 eggs
½ glass milk
1 onion
2 beef cubes
1 tsp paprika
2-3 tbsp oil
salt
pepper
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 300°C
Chop onion and fry gently in oil
Add mince meat and the beef cubes. Cook and stir for about 10 min.
Add paprika and pepper and remove from heat
Add salt to taste
Slice eggplant and potatoes (slices should be about 2 mm thick)
Line bottom of a casserole dish with sliced potatoes.
Add mince meat over potatoes and top with eggplant slices.
Add a bit of water in skillet used to cook onins and mince meat.
Scrape and pour liquid in casserole. It should be about half full.
(This liquid will enable the potatoes to cook).
Cook in oven for 50 min. at 200°C. After 30 min lower oven to 150°C.
After this time, beat eggs and milk and pour over the moussaka.
Cook for another 10 min. or until top is golden brown.
An easy version of the famous Greek moussaka recipe; a sure success!!
Wine pairing: Moussaka can be well paired with a Merlot, Sangiovese and Zinfandel.
