Co-Directors of Slow Travel for Women

Ann Marinelli Del Pero and Muriel Theriault Montefusco, co-directors of Slow Travel for Women, both seasoned travellers, realize the growing need and demand for women who seek a different kind of travelling. After months of research and interviewing women interested in travelling from all walks of life, the response has been overwhelming, the result of which you are reading today.

Ann Marinelli Del Pero was born in the USA. She grew up in New England and then followed a dream of hers to get some work experience as an architect and designer in Italy. Although many years and many projects have passed since then, she is still happily experiencing the Italian charm and lifestyle experience. Together with her Italian husband, Pier and their daughter Elisabeth, they enjoy meeting people from all over the world who come to their “Villa Magnolia” Bed and Breakfast in Milan in the famous Canal District.

Milan’s location in the center of Europe has also lead her to travel extensively to visit nearby cities and countries, thus the idea of Slow Travel for Women was born.

Curiosity is one of Ann Marinelli’s traits, and as many of you, this curiosity has lead to an urge to discover more and more. Ann has also been working as a journalist for more than twenty years and will try to bring that experience into the travel packages planned for you.

Muriel Theriault Montefusco is Canadian and has lived in Italy for many years. Having travelled around the world, Muriel has come to understand and appreciate what it is that transforms a typical holiday into an unforgettable, special, lifetime experience. Her passion and constant search as well as her respect for the cultural and natural environment has prompted Muriel, combined with Ann Marinelli’s experience, to embark on this wish to share with you from her personal experience. Confident to ensure an experience which is rare, fascinating, authentic and full of surprises.

Muriel’s pet cause is the respect and preservation of our environment which have forced their way into our lives. She has been very much inspired by: David Suzuki, Canada’s National Broadcaster, Angela Merkel and Olga Tsepilova.

Living in Italy’s hub city has enveloped Muriel with thirst to visit all the hidden beauties of the country as well as the whole of Europe. Summer is dedicated to "Slow Travel for Women" trips with friends who share her passion whether it be wine trips in Alsace region of France, the Agriat desert in Corsica or the architectural delights of Dubai.

A graduate from University of Montreal’s Medical School, raising 3 children in a culture which was not her own, re-inventing herself in Italy was not an easy feat. No doubt Muriel is a richer person because of it. A very positive attitude towards life has given Muriel many satisfactions and much happiness all of which makes her eager to share this with you together with her partner, Ann Marinelli.

Slow travel transportation

Why Slow Travel for Women? We will talk about it more in detail later, but just to touch on its significance briefly, it is similar to the philosophy of “Slow Food” (as the contrary of Fast Food). Slow Travel for example means not rushing through 10 cities in 10 days, but enjoying the local “flavors” of the area in which we travel without constantly changing hotels and cities.
